We're talking about an island that 2x4 miles in size. The permanent population is around 25,000 with up to 180,000 squeezed in for certain events. It's a resort town and our busy season runs from November to May, when the 'snowbirds' come to play.
Key West is at the very beginning (Mile Marker '0') of US Route 1. We're 90 miles north of Havana, Cuba, making it the closest city to us, closer than Miami. We have people from almost every country living and working here. We are truly blessed to have a community that gets along so well in spite of cultural differences.
I'll be posting more information on Key West on a special website in the future. You are invited to contact me with questions about Key West because it's a passion of mine!!
